Ingenico Lane 7000 & Lane 8000

Overview

The Ingenico Lane/7000 and Lane/8000 are customer-facing payment terminals with color touchscreens and signature capture capabilities. These devices support MSR (magnetic stripe), EMV (chip), and NFC (contactless) payments.

Connected to the cloud-based terminal service through a wired Ethernet connection, the devices secure transactions using EMV technology and point-to-point encryption (P2PE), helping keep transactions secure and PCI compliant.

The Bolt family of integrated solutions is transitioning to CardPointe Integrated Payments.

Over the coming weeks, terminals will receive an update that includes minor changes, such as updated default themes and branding for terminals that are not configured with custom branding.

Terminals update automatically during the nightly reboot window. Leave terminals powered on and connected to the network overnight to ensure the update is completed successfully.

After the update, you may notice the following changes:

  • If the default wallpaper and theme are being used, the Bolt wallpaper and logo will change to CardPointe Integrated Terminal.
  • The Bolted and Unbolted statuses will change to Connected and Disconnected.

For Ingenico Lane terminals, the PIN entry prompt for EMV PIN Debit cards now displays additional information, including:

  • The Application Label, which identifies the EMV application name read from the card (for example, "US Debit")
  • Instructions for bypassing PIN entry:

"Press the Red X to Cancel or the Green Circle to Bypass"

While the Lane/8000 features a larger footprint and display than the Lane/7000, the devices are otherwise identical. Both devices include an 800 x 480 resolution touchscreen display.

Setting Up the Device

The following sections provide information for getting started with the Lane/7000 or Lane/8000.

Setting Up the Device
  1. Plug the power supply connector into the jack on the Multipoint Interface Cable.
  2. Connect the Multipoint Interface Cable to the Multipoint Port on the underside of the terminal.
  3. Connect the other end of the Multipoint Interface Cable to an Ethernet port, such as a router, modem, or wall jack.
  4. Plug the power supply adapter into an available power outlet.
Connecting the Device

Once power is supplied to the terminal, the initialization process begins.

After the terminal successfully establishes an IP address, it attempts to connect to the terminal service.

  • If the connection is successful, the device displays Connected.
  • If the connection is unsuccessful, the device displays Disconnected. Contact CardPointe Support for assistance.

Once the device displays Connected, it is ready for use.

The device may remain powered on indefinitely or may be disconnected from power as needed.

Entering Text Using the Multi-Tap Method

Some setup and configuration tasks require entering characters using the keypad.

Each number key represents a set of letters that can be entered by pressing the key multiple times. The first key press enters the number, while additional key presses cycle through the associated letters.

For example:

  • Press 2 once to enter the number 2
  • Press 2 twice to enter lowercase a
  • Press 2 three times to enter lowercase b
  • Press 2 four times to enter lowercase c
  • Press 2 five times to enter capital A
  • Press 2 six times to enter capital B
  • Press 2 seven times to enter capital C
Advanced Configuration

After setup and configuration are complete, the terminal is ready for use. Additional advanced configuration changes can also be made, such as assigning a static IP address or changing the terminal password.

The following sections provide information on accessing the Admin Menu and performing additional configuration tasks.

Accessing and Navigating the Admin Menu

The Admin Menu provides access to the following options:

  • Settings
  • Configuration
  • Change Menu Password
  • Restart Terminal
Accessing the Admin Menu

To access the Admin Menu:

  1. Press F and enter the default password CCMerchant using the multi-tap method.
  2. Press O (green button) to confirm the password and access the Admin Menu.
Navigating the Menu
  • Press F to scroll down
  • Press the up arrow to scroll up
  • Press O (green button) to select
  • Press < (yellow button) to clear
  • Press X (red button) to cancel or return to the main menu
Changing the Admin Menu Password

To change the Admin Menu password:

  1. Access the Admin Menu.
  2. Press F to scroll down and press O (green button) to select Change Menu Password.
  3. Enter the new password using the multi-tap method and press O (green button) when finished.

When complete, the device displays Menu password changed.

Exercise caution when changing the password. Be sure to store the new password in a secure location.

This password cannot be reset remotely. If the password is forgotten or lost, access to the Admin Menu will no longer be available and the terminal will need to be replaced.

Setting a Static IP Address

Setting a static IP address is optional. In most cases, the device automatically receives an IP address when connected to the network.

To manually configure the network settings:

  1. Access the Admin Menu.
  2. Press F to scroll down and press O (green button) to select Configuration.
  3. Press F to scroll down and press O (green button) to select IP Settings.
  4. Press F to scroll down and press O (green button) to select Configure IP.
  5. Press F to scroll down and press O (green button) to select Static IP.
  6. Enter the Static IP Address using the keypad and press O (green button).
  7. Enter the Network Mask and press O (green button).
  8. Enter the Gateway Address and press O (green button).
  9. Enter DNS Address 1 and press O (green button).
  10. Enter DNS Address 2 and press O (green button).

The terminal displays Updating IP configuration and restarting terminal, then restarts using the new static configuration.

To restore the default network configuration, repeat the steps above and select DHCP from the Select IP Protocol screen in step 5.

Configuring Device Beep Settings

The Beep menu allows temporary adjustment of the beep volume, pitch, and duration for testing purposes.

To permanently change the device beep settings, note the preferred settings and contact CardPointe Support.

  1. Access the Admin Menu.
  2. Press O (green button) to select Settings.
  3. Press F to scroll down and press O (green button) to select Beep.
  4. Use the keypad to enter a value for Frequency (Hz). Press the down arrow to enter values for Volume, Time On (ms), and Time Off (ms).

  1. Press O (green button) when finished.

The terminal displays Beep parameters have been updated and beeps several times to confirm the changes.

Checking the Firmware Version
  1. Access the Admin Menu.
  2. Press O (green button) to select Settings from the menu list.
  3. Press O (green button) to select Version from the Settings menu.

The currently installed firmware version is displayed on the screen.

Press X (red button) to return to the previous menu.

Troubleshooting


Restarting Your Terminal

You can restart the terminal using either of the following methods:

  • To perform a soft reboot, access the Admin Menu and select Restart Terminal.
  • To perform a hard reboot, press and hold the .,#* key and the < (yellow key) simultaneously until the device powers off.

Device Disconnected

If the device displays Disconnected, complete the following troubleshooting steps:

  1. Verify that you are using the provided multi-point mono connector (Ethernet) cable and power supply. The power supply should be connected to the splitter on the Ingenico multi-point mono connector cable.
  2. Verify that the Ethernet jack on the multi-point mono connector cable is securely connected to your router, modem, network switch, or Ethernet wall jack.
  3. Verify that the device was obtained from the CardPointe shop or your software provider.
  4. Consult your IT administrator to verify that the Ethernet port being used has internet access and that your internal network allows CardPointe Integrated Terminal connections. This helps ensure that a firewall is not blocking the connection.

Device Connected but Unable to Connect to Application

If the device displays Connected but is unable to connect to your application, complete the following steps:

  1. Confirm with your software provider that the device configuration is correctly set within your application.
  2. If the device configuration is correct and the issue persists, contact CardPointe Support for assistance.

Device Restarting Unexpectedly

The most common cause of a device restarting unexpectedly during the day is an incorrect time setting on the device.

Devices are configured to automatically restart at 4:00 AM local time. To update the



PPS - 21 Invalid Merchant Error

If the terminal displays a PPS - 21 Invalid Merchant error, contact Merchant Support for assistance.

Contacting Support

CardPointe Support is available to assist with device setup, troubleshooting, and other support needs.

Before contacting support, have the following information available:

  • Merchant ID
  • Device hardware serial number (HSN)
  • Any error messages displayed on the terminal

The HSN can be found at the top of the device display. Having this information available can help expedite the troubleshooting process.
