What is a Batch?

Batch processing, also known as batch settlement, is the process of submitting all completed credit card transactions for funding. At the end of the business day, or when no additional transitions are expected, those transactions are grouped into a “batch” and sent for processing.

Many payment systems can be configured to automatically close and settle batches at a present time each day. Alternatively, merchants can manually close their batch through their payment terminal, software, or POS system. Timely batch settlement helps ensure accurate reporting and faster access to funds
