What is AVS?

AVS (Address Verification System) validates the billing address associated with a credit card by verifying that the ZIP code and/or street number provided matches the information on file.

This process can help reduce credit card fraud by identifying situations where a person attempting to use the card does not have access to the cardholder’s actual billing address.
