What is Settlement?

Settlement is the process of finalizing credit card transactions and transferring funds from completed sales. Throughout the business day approved transactions are collected into a batch. Once the batch is closed and submitted for processing the transactions are considered settled.

After settlement, the processor completes the day’s sales activity and the funds are typically deposited into the merchants account within 48 hours. Because transactions have been finalized, voids cannot be issued after settlement.
