What is the Issuing Bank or Issuer?
An issuing bank or issuer is the financial institution that provides a credit card to a cardholder. The issuer is responsible for approving or declining transactions, setting the cardholder’s credit limit, and establishing the terms and conditions of the account.
When a purchase is made, the issuing bank advances the funds to complete the transaction and is later reimbursed by the cardholder according to the terms of their account.
